BAS Important Information
Note: Go to Item #8 for Projected Schedule
- Effective Spring 2007, you must apply and be admitted to the BAS program. If you do not meet all of the admission requirements, you will be placed in a Pre-BAS major. Details on how to apply for the BAS degrees will be put online during Spring 2007. Please see Admission Requirements for more information. These requirements are for admission to the BAS in Administrative Management; the BAS in Technology Management, Supervision Concentration; and the BAS in Technology Management, Computer Networking Concentration.
- Two semesters prior to completion of course requirements for the BAS, students must apply for graduation. If you will notify your advisor, he or she will initiate the graduation application process, and then notify you so you can complete the remainder of the process and submit the application. Specific information on graduation requirements and dates for applying for graduation are in the catalog and/or in the Schedule of Classes.
- A minimum of 30 semester hours of residency is required to graduate with a bachelor’s degree. A minimum of 21 of the 30 hours required in residence must be upper division hours. See the catalog for specific details.
- A student must have a grade of C or higher in all 3000-4000 level courses. A student must achieve an institutional GPA of 2.0 in the courses used to meet degree requirements. A student must be in good academic standing at the time of graduation.
- Be sure to check prerequisites for courses before trying to register.
- If a student took two accounting or two economics in the associate program (ex. Acct 201/202, Econ 2105/2106), he/she does not have to take the 3000-level accounting or economics required in the BAS program BUT must take a 3000-4000 level course in place of the 3000-level accounting or economics. A student is required to have a minimum of 40 semester hours of 3000-4000 level courses to receive a bachelor's degree.
- If a student uses a general education course in the block credit or career portion of the AAS, the student cannot use that same course to count in general education in the BAS. For example, if the student takes Introduction to Psychology and this course is applied as a course in the career block portion of the associate degree (often this is a course substitution for a career related class), it cannot be used in the BAS program as an Area E course. It is the student's responsibility to notify his/her advisor if an Area A-E course was used for anything other than Area A-E.
