| Hello! My name is Lou Brackett. I have been an instructor
in the Technology Department for seven years, first as a part-timer, then
as a full time faculty member. I also taught computer software classes
for Continuing Education at Clayton College for eight years. My
specialties are WordPerfect, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Windows
and DOS (that oldie but goodie!) I am certified as a Microsoft Office
User Specialist Master and a Microsoft Authorized Instructor.
I never set out to be a teacher. I have a B.S. in Chemistry and an A.
A. S. in Computer Science, back from the days when computer science meant
you knew how to program in Fortran, COBOL, and RPG! Technology has
changed immensely since then. I found out very quickly that I was much
better with computers than chemistry (be thankful - I probably would
have blown up the world by now) and began to teach part time in
continuing education just to keep current while I raised my children. I completed a Master's degree in Instructional Technology -
Distance Learning at Georgia College and State University in 2004. I took most
of my grad classes online, so if you have any questions about online
classes, just ask.
My hobbies (in my spare time) are technology, quilting, sewing,
reading, Broadway shows and birdwatching. If you ever see a strange or
unusual bird on campus, let me know! I am also interested in Georgia
history and trivia, especially coastal Georgia history.
I look forward to working with you this semester.
